Operation Half-Bob was good this year, Mission 1 Completed and Mission 2 was delayed until the first start of fall. However, the Pirates verified all fail safes on the French Broad River were in place, including the airlift gurneys for Mountain MAMA. This year wasn’t a radio or gear check, but a river system check running from Section 8 to Section 9 of the river system (shit, everything is a gear check – but you know what I mean.) This was a no booze trip since we are exploring SAR co-ops with other groups.
Who went :
Boat 1 : Captain Stache
- Mate Solomon (New Mexico)
- Mate Cory ( South Carolina)
- Mate Cindy The Sexy (Tennessee/Florida) (Congrats to Cindy for her new job at https://www.ashevillegoddesstemple.com)
- Mate Phil (Charlotte)
- Kingsley (The Dog)
Boat 2 : Captain Balls
- Mate Charles ( Florida)
- Mate DeezNuts (Florida)
- Mate Juan de Carlos (Miami)
Since no one wanted to crew with the Florida people, Balls took them in his own boat – kidding … it just worked out that way.
Skills List Checked:
- Sat-Coms
- Medical
- Water skills
- Navigation
- Bare-Boat Load Out
- PFD check out
As usual, despite living only miles away, only three Asheville people came out (Cpt. Stache, Balls and Kinglesy), we figure the rest were either all stoned, drunk or something – maybe a Grateful Dead/Panic tribute band was in town. Who knows.
Put in was Banard, take out with Stack House. Our next trip is a wedding trip, but that is a Pirate Church thing (thepiratechurch.org) and Stache is sailing out with an entire wedding party – the date will be unpublished. Thanks to everyone that came.
